MOTIF
(A French word, standing for a core subject that motivates a creative actions in novel, music and art )

Monolith

What is MONOLITH?

Monolith in English means merely "a single stone or a stone plate", but what made this word famous is the movie, "A Space Odyssey 2001" directed by Stanley Kubrick. In that movie, the MONOLITH appeared at the very moment when ape evolved into human being.

A hexahedron standing for artificially formed object played a role of God's revelation that gave intelligence to human being.

MONOLITH and Mitsui High-tec

A hexahedron consists of the following three element technologies.

Mitsui surface grinder No.1 (1950)
Mitsui surface grinder No.1 (1950)
To tell the truth, what support Mitsui's various high technologies are these three simple element technologies:

-Flat Surface- -Square Angle-
-Parallel-

Flat surface, Square angle and Parallel.

Through Mitsui's tackling in the manufacture of dies since its foundation and the production of machine tools started from the surface grinder No.1 completed in the next year of the foundation, these element technologies have continuously been succeeded and accumulated until now as:

Mitsui's original technology, that is, "Ultra-Precision Technology Base".

Even at present, we give all the new comers a tainting course in which they make a hexahedron by manual filing for the purpose that they may study and learn the accumulated know-how by themselves.
(Details)

We made monolith the motif of our home page because it stands for our enthusiasm on technology, that is, how much value we give to the element technologies of "flat surface", "square angle" and "parallel" for making a hexahedron and how we think them important for the industry of human being.
